My niece.

I thought I would share with you a couple of snaps I took of my beautiful niece.

She is such a photogenic little one. This one was taken last month with my new camera.

Personally I like it in black and white but the colour version was ok too.

Once I master photoshop I may go and change the background.

I am sure she will be photographed by me a million times yet so I should get plenty of chances to get it just right!

Some of the fireworks

These are a few of my firworks shots.
I understand that to the professional and the experienced photographer they are probably terrible and fulll of faults but I hope to the people like me, the ones who are just starting to learn, I hope you like my first effort!

This shot I just wanted colour and light trails. My 10 year old son thinks it is (for want of a better description).....Pretty.

Here I tried for a little landscape as well as fireworks. I wanted the light trails and the city lights so it would show the scale of the fireworks. Not too bad. Certainly better than the dots I was getting on the auto settings!

This one I also was still after landscape for scale and trails for fireworks. It is a little bit crooked on the horizon but I can probably fix that later with some editing.

This is a bit of a panoramic shot. Perhaps a little hard to see on here but another one I quite like.

This is, of course, the Perth city backdrop in Western Australia. I am blessed to live , in what I think is one of the nicest places in the world. It is clean, mostly safe, friendly and home to lots of beautiful weather.
That said it does have a downside as you can hardly get a meal after 9.30pm most nights, including weekends, even in the middle of the city. It is a sleepy little place and a million miles from any other major city. Like the small towns, in Perth, someone will always know someone that you do. No secrets in this place!

Australia day 2008

Australia Day 2008 was the day I decided would be my first venture into manual setting photoghraphy and hopefully the beginning of learning how to use my camera properly.
I have to say, as a first effort into this mysterious world of photography, I am rather pleased with the result. I understand that they probably have a million things wrong with them to a serious or professional photographer but from a newbie point of view I hope you enjoy seeing my additions as they come to hand.
I would love to get comments on what you think of them or how I could improve so please feel free to let me know. Hopefully this year will see many improvements.
Wish me luck!
